Building a website shouldn't be overwhelming...
Most people don't built websites eery day. You probably have some questions (and you should) so let's answer some of the questions I hear the most often.
Do I need to know anything about websites and design?
Not at all. That's my job but don't worry, we'll work together to create the website that best fits your business and your goals. Without the jargon.
Who will I actually be working with?
Me. Not an account manager, junior designer or assistant. I work one on one with you from our first converation until your site is live on the web. (I've always disliked the bait-and-switch where you hire one person and never speak to them again.)
What if I don't have my content yet?
Don't worry, that's completely normal at the start of a project. During our discovery call we talk about what your site needs for content and I'll guide you through the process.
What if I don't even know what I want (or need)?
You know your business and goals better than anyone. We'll work together to make sure your site is a reflection of you and your business.
How long does it take?
You'll be surprised by how quickly your new website comes together. I work on only one project, with one client, at a time. Once we've had our discovery call and made a plan we will book your dedicated website build week. No worries about things dragging on for weeks or months.
Do you use AI?
Your website will be designed custom for you and your business. I don't use AI to build websites. I do at times use AI to help with brainstorming and ideas. It can be a fantastic resource but I still value a personal, human-first approach.
If AI generated content or images are ever part of your project, we'll talk about it first. No surprises.
What's your goal for every project?
I want you to come away thinking "wow, that was easier than I thought it would be" and proud to show off your new website to your customers.

I've been building websites since the days when they were hand-coded in HTML and uploaded over dial-up internet. A few things have changed since then.
What hasn't changed is my belief that a great website should feel approachable, reflect the personality behind the business and help people take the next step with confidence.
Over the years I've worked in web design, technical support, domains and DNS, helping businesses solve everything from simple website questions to complex online challenges. Today, Merlene Studio brings all of that experience together with one goal: making the website process feel a little less overwhelming.

I believe great websites are built with focus, not rushed between a dozen other projects. That’s why I work on one website at a time. When it’s your build week, your project has my full attention, with dedicated time for design, development, review and launch.
Discovery Call
We meet, talk about your business and decide if we're a good fit.
Homework
You'll gather your content, photos and any existing branding. I'll give you a clear checklist so you always know what's needed.
Build Week
Once everything is ready, your project gets its dedicated build week. This is when the design comes to life.
Review & Refine
You'll review the site, request any final tweaks and we'll make sure everything feels just right.
Launch!
We go live, celebrate, and make sure you're comfortable updating your website moving forward.
